Shopping in South-africa

Johannesburg: All your culinary shopping can be done at Market on Main. Malls like Eastgate, Rosebank and Mandela Square offer high end goods as well as bargains. While the mostly Indian-owned Oriental Plaza sells everything from spices to cheap watches to cookware. And if your interest lies in music, visit Kohinoor for everything from kwaito to jazz.
Knysna: The Waterfront is the best place to shop for clothes, jewellery, souvenirs and other knick knacks from a variety of street shops.
Cape Town: Shop at Victoria Wharf for African mementos, while the City Centre offers hip and happening boutiques and quirky shops to buy from. Visit Woodstock and De Waterkant if you don't want to indulge in street shopping, and for the window shopper, there's Kalk Bay.

Nightlife

Johannesburg: Hipster bars and dancing clubs, historic pubs, shebeens and bar districts, Joburg has it all. Melville is most popular with dozens of bars around Seventh Street. For a more classy experience, Rosebank, Norwood, Rivonia and Orange Grove, or head to Newtown in the Central Business District.
Cape Town: Go to Long Street for most of the ""touristy"" club action. The Zula Bar has live music, a large dancefloor, a busy bar, pool and fuseball tables. Fiction plays electro, psy trance and dubstep, while Deluxe is for RnB lovers.
Knysna: Main Street offers a a young vibe with places lies Zanzibar. Bloo is more sophisticated. Blend on George Rex Drive hosts Knysna's local bands and Thesen Isle offers great restaurants and bars. Visit the Barnyard Theatre with a picnic basket and a bottle of wine for a fabulous show amid a rustic setting and great live music.

Festivals

National Arts Festival (end June/start July): This 10-day festival in Grahamstown is the oldest, biggest and most famous arts festival offering theatre, music, dance and film events.
Knysna Oyster Festival (July): Come to Knysna's 10-day festival to taste oysters, washed down with bubbly, take part in oyster-eating competitions and other molluscular sports.
Klein Karoo National Arts Festival, KKNK (April): This originally Afrikaans festival in Oudtshoorn showcases a performing arts from both the Afrikaans and English communities.
Cape Town Jazz Festival (April): This two-day festival is performed on five stages with more than 40 international and local artists at Cape Town's Convention Centre.

Places

Sun City: Pilanesberg Game Drive has 57,000 hectares of land brimming with almost all of Southern Africa's game species. Encounter the Big 5, more than 300 bird species and rare species such as wild dog and cheetah in an open sfari vehicle.
Knysna: Visit Dias Museum and Post Office Tree via Mossel Bay.
Oudtshoorn: Visit an Ostrich Farm, the Cango Caves, a Cheetah ranch, and a crocodile enclosure.
Cape town: Table Mountain is one of the natural wonders of the world. You can also enjoy a guided city tour of the Houses of Parliament, District Six, Green Market Square, Clifton and Sea Point. Visit the Two Ocean's Aquarium at the Victoria and Alfred Waterfront, Kirstenbosch Botanical Gardens, the Cape of Good Hope, a cruise to Hout Bay, and view Jackass penguins at Boulders Beach, Simon's Town.

Carry party wear, night wear and weather-appropriate clothes. Don't forget clothes for a safari--browns, greens and other jungle colours that do not stand out during a game drive.
Medicines with prescriptions, sunscreen, cosmetics, sunglasses and hats.
Comfotable footwear for walking and for night-outs
Camera and phone with all its accessories; plus extra storage for and batteries for the safari.
